C4 #55

C4 is a powerful explosive used for blowing/clearing up blocks. It can be set off by placing a torch on the C4 block, or in a chain reaction of explosions. It is more powerful than TNT, as it blows up a much wider and higher area.

Several instances of C4 naturally spawn connected to a proximity detector around the bedrock tower at the bottom of Dig Deep. These traps are only detectable with the in-game mini-map as they are buried under the ground, making them dangerous even for fully armored players.

Description[]

In-game description: "As with many plastic explosives, the explosive in C4 is RDX (cyclonite or cyclotrimethylene trinitramine). A major advantage of C4 is that it can easily be molded into any desired shape. C4 is very stable and insensitive to most physical shocks. Detonation can only be initiated by a combination of extreme heat and a shock wave, as when a detonator inserted into it is fired. Torches and grenades have been known to detonate C4."

Uses[]

  • Clearing out large sections.
  • Setting traps

C4 is a material used in following recipes:[]

Efficiency[]

Explosion radius varies depending on the type of blocks blown. The common blocks that make up a majority of any given layer (Such as gabbro and sandstone) are destroyed completely by the explosion. However, explosive-resistant blocks are preserved and can be picked up afterward. It can destroy anything except for rhyolite, diamond blocks and bedrock, however these blocks do not block damage from the explosion (for instance if you made a house out of diamond, the explosion would still hurt you if you were close enough).

C4 may have combat/trap applications. However, the cost/difficulty of production greatly offsets any benefits.

How to Obtain[]

  • The blueprint for C4 can be found between depth 1844 and 2150.
  • It costs 8596Item GoldPieces32 to buy from the Block Shop (Icon PC 32 Utility Tab) and sells for 7164Item GoldPieces32. This means that C4 isn't very cost effective to use in large scale mining or combat.
  • C4 Requires 3 cyclonite and 3 sulphur, in a zig-zag pattern going down the first two columns with sulphur in the first left slot, using a workbench (Easy Craft tab Blocks tab).

Notes[]

  • Before update 1.1, there was a glitch that allowed C4 to be reusable.
  • When a player is stuck, and at a layer they are unable to dig with their current pickaxe, it is possible for them to use C4 to help them get to the next layer. The trick is to place yourself right above the next blueprint (located with the Blueprint Finder on the bottom left corner of the screen) and carefully place and detonate the C4 while attempting to not blow yourself up, in a straight-down path. Rope can be used in order to help you travel along the pathway, quickly, to get out of the way in time. This can also be done with TNT, grenades (by this point you would have all of the pickaxes, hopefully), and Boom Arrows.
